When Weekly Therapy Needs More Support

Lauren Dean, LCSW
Founder and Clinical Director · LCSW #110737

How to talk with your clinician when your current support no longer feels sufficient.

Tell your therapist what has changed

If you are finding everyday life harder or struggling between sessions, bring that into the conversation. Needing a different plan does not mean you have failed.

Explore options together

Your clinician can review your goals, current support and safety needs. They may recommend adjustments or connect you with a higher level of care. A website article cannot determine the right level of care for you.

Where Dixon fits

Dixon provides outpatient telehealth therapy for California teens and adults. When weekly online therapy is not appropriate, our team will discuss referrals rather than promise this service can meet every need.

For general education only; this article is not medical advice and does not create a therapist–client relationship. Clinical services are provided under the supervision of Lauren Dean, LCSW #110737. Dixon is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or call 911.
