Why Dixon Exists

My best friend and I met when we were 11. We grew up together — the kind of friendship where you know someone's whole story, where you can finish each other's sentences, where you show up no matter what.

I lost her to an overdose. And I will carry that loss every day for the rest of my life.

What I know with certainty is that her death was preventable. Not because she didn't try. Not because people didn't love her. But because the right support wasn't in place at the right moment.

There was no accessible, structured, in-between level of care that could have held her while she healed.

Dixon Behavioral Health exists because of her. Every group session, every EMDR session, every phone call we take from a family in crisis — it is all in her honor.

She deserved a program like this. So does your person.

Dixon Behavioral Health exists so that families don't have to lose someone the way we did.

If someone you love is struggling, we are here.
